After a year of mourning my separation and living my celibacy, I was ready to search for a life partner. The year is 2006 and of course, dating websites are very popular and meeting someone on the Internet doesn’t seem so awkward anymore as it use to do.

I signed up on the most popular ones and spent most of my free time browsing profiles, writing letters, reading letters and within 6 months, I had met over 30 ladies. Guess what? Not once did it click both ways. I was very interested in many of them but there was always something wrong – I was too short, too tall, too skinny, too fat, I lived too far from them or believe it or not living too near from them, I was too “this”, too “that” – the harsh reality of North American dating.
So, I gave up this internet dating and relied on fait to bring me my second half. Of course, being a working-family-working not too outgoing single part time dad; faith had limited resources and did not work very well for me. But life went on and without stressing too much about my situation, I always kept a good eye opened.
In August of 2006, as I was vacationing in North Carolina with my son and his girlfriend, I met a couple who changed my life forever and for the better. He was an army pilot for the US air force and his wife was from Russia. They were a very nice couple and his wife was outstanding: she was beautiful, simple, smart, energetic, tactful, smiling, interesting, interested in what others had to say – a true jewel.
They had met with the help of an international matchmaking website. Guess what I did upon returning from vacation?
